CAN Detached

CAN Detached

Project Description

The CAN Detached project focuses on the three Boroughs of Carrickfergus, Antrim and Newtownabbey. The project is being delivered over a 24-month period targeting 60 young people who are marginalised and have not availed of main stream youth & community provision. There are a number of contributory factors for this namely, economic, social , civic, sectarianism, racism and conflict. In this project we are explicitly targeting young people who do not engage with the voluntary or statutory youth service, between young people from different community backgrounds.

Over the two year period, young people who have participated in personal and social development programmes, will have the opportunity to participate in ‘accredited peer leadership training’ and become peer leaders in their own community. Cross community engagement is a core aspect of the project as well as a Cross-Border aspect within the project.
