In January 2024 NI Youth Forum were awarded the tender from The Commission for Victims and Survivors to work alongside young people from a range of different backgrounds. Through youth work support young people have developed an understanding of the work and role of the Commission, in particular, the role of the Victims and Survivors Forum, the Commission’s priorities and they have explored topics such as legacy and reconciliation. They have also undertaken an Oral History project that provided a powerful opportunity on how we remember our past. The youth panel is a mechanism for which the Commission can seek their views on a range of policy issues as it relates to young people. It is the is role of NIYF to work alongside young people to build their capacity so that they have the confidence, skills and knowledge to be able to Speak Truth to Power.
