The Young Peoples Peer Leadership Project is a North East Peace III funded project delivered by the NI Youth Forum and RG Consultants.
The Areas participating in the project are: Ballykeel, Doury Road, Carnlough, Glenarm, Cushendunn, Rasharkin, Portstewart and Gortnaghy.
Running parallel to the detached programme is the NE Peer Leadership Programme. This project is a natural follow on from a similar Peer Leadership Project run as part of Phase 1 of the North East Peace III action plan.
We will target 12 Peer Leaders from across the 6 Council areas, as well as an adult volunteer per area. This group of 18, will be trained Community Relations and Future Leadership and when trained engage with their own peer leadership project and take them through a 12 week programme.
Each peer leadership group will also have a resource allocation of £ 5,000 to develop their own summer intervention project.
Lastly, all Peer Leaders and adult volunteers will receive some training in Peer Research skills and be supported to develop local Youth Strategies.
The overall programme will develop young peoples leadership skills, with particular focus on Peace Building.
Work is on going in the 6 areas which are: Portstewart; Cushendun; Rasharkin; Ballykeel; Gortanaghy; Glenarm & Carnlough; Glens of Antrim.
