Young people from throughout the region and various backgrounds and identities formed a youth engagement panel. The program was facilitated over 10 months and set out to capture the experiences and feelings of young people with regard to policing and provide a platform for young people to discuss issues of importance to them. Participants designed a youth-led piece of research that captured the views of over 500 young people with regard to the Police Ombudsman of Northern Ireland (PONI) and improving their service.
The young people engaged in group work sessions, a residential, and a behind-the-scenes day at PONI to create their awareness and build upon existing knowledge and met with the Ombudsman for a question and answer session.
