Yesterday, Senior Youth Work Manager Louisa, YouthStart participant Cian & Youth Action NI CEO Martin, spoke passionately about the 64% funding cut to the UKSPF funding and the effects it will have, at N I Youth Forum’s All-Party Group meeting at Stormont.
Louisa spoke about how the cuts will effect many across our sector stating
‘This cut will have disastrous consequences. Once again our sector is on a cliff edge and the most marginalised young people will suffer.’
Cian bravely shared his lived experience and how joining NIYF’s YouthStart programme was a turning point in his life ‘I have been changed and I credit that to YouthStart and everything it has done for me. So many young people will need help like I did but they won’t be able to get it.’
Martin emplored MLA’s in the room to offer support to the NI Can’t Wait campaign. ‘Under the UNCRC, It is a right that young people have access to economic and social support.’
