Human rights must protect everyone – equally, universally, and without exception.
This week, governments are meeting at the Council of Europe in Moldova to discuss proposals that could weaken how human rights protections are applied under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
That matters because the ECHR protects everyday rights and freedoms when they are not upheld.
We’ve joined over 90 organisations across these islands in calling on the UK and Irish Governments to reject any proposal that limits rights protections, creates a hierarchy of rights, or reduces access to justice.
Because when rights are weakened for some people, they become less secure for us all.
