Call For Westminster Inquiry

“The Northern Ireland Youth Forum stands alongside those calling for the Westminster inquiry into historical institutional abuse to be extended to cover Northern Ireland, including the Kincora Boys Home and Rubane House.

The NI Youth Forum is deeply concerned by ongoing reports of historical child sex abuse at a number of children’s homes in Northern Ireland.

As well as offering our deepest sympathies to those affected by these heinous crimes, we believe there is a pressing need for these homes to be included in the UK wide inquiry into historical institutional abuse.

Allegations against members of the security forces mean the current Northern Ireland inquiry is not fit for purpose, without sufficient power to access confidential government documents. The only solution is a UK wide approach, with full access to all relevant information.

We call on the government to act immediately in response to this call for truth and justice.”
