This afternoon some of the young women from our YouthStart programme in Newry met Sarah McParland to discuss how she started her small independent business working from home as a nail and beauty technician. They discussed:
Starting out and what training she went through.How she built her client base from part-time to full-time over the seven years she’s been in business. How to sustain a business effectively e.g insurance, policies, booking systems, further training & dealing with customer demands. Practicalities like what products to use, time management skills, social media and branding design.An amazing afternoon of learning, leaving the girls with plenty to think about!
